Prevent procrastination -- think of your future self

From Scribbles #17: To motivate myself to do something now instead of later I sometimes think of how much my future self will appreciate it (e.g. "If I put the sheets on the bed now, future-Dave will be happy that he doesn't have to do it when he gets home late tonight all tired.") Sometimes I'll even forget that I've done this (e.g. "Hey look, past-Dave already made a copy of this report and prepared the mailing envelope.") Whenever I benefit from this technique I reinforce the behaviour with a big thank you (e.g. "Thanks, past-Dave, having this report ready really helps today.") [Apologies to readers who are hoping for content here they've not seen. Maybe tomorrow future-Dave can come up with something on partnerships for you.]

p.s. a big shout-out to past-Dave for putting this post together yesterday so that it would be pretty much ready to go today when I got home from school.

Hey, I think this is a very good idea, but it sort of sounds like that bumper sticker that says, i do what my rice krispies tell me to do. Good idea though for not procrastinating.
