Vernissage: Tuesday, 3 April 2007, 6pm-8pm, The Manx. http://www.jennfarr.com/ Note from Dave: Besides being a gifted artist, cookbook author and local party girl, Jenn is also an excellent neighbour who makes delicious banana bread.(Ottawa, ON) – Local party girl and cookbook author Jenn Farr, is excited to announce her first solo art show! Paintings rendered in hot liquid wax and pigment will be exhibited starting April 1, 2007 at The Manx, 370 Elgin Street.
"The Manx is one of my favourite Ottawa restaurants. I am thrilled to have my first show in such a familiar locale!" says Jenn.
Jenn uses an ancient painting method called encaustic to fuse layers of coloured beeswax into contemporary abstracts. The brightly hued work is full of texture and depth.
"Many people can’t believe it’s beeswax." exclaims Jenn, "They stare at my paintings and want to touch them to see if they’re real."
Jenn was born, raised and educated in Ottawa. She obtained her BFA (honours) in painting from the University of Ottawa.
