I Need a New Host

I have a problem. In their continuing efforts to make themselves less valuable to me Rogers and Yahoo will no longer provide me with file hosting after October 26.

This means that I have to bring all the files that I put up on GeoCities somewhere else. For the pictures and html documents it is a hassle, but not a big deal.

The problem file is my Human Bingo Excel file. It is the most popular thing I've done and I am having a hard time finding a place to have it hosted where people can easily download it without having to go to wonky ad-filled sites.

It is 92 KB.

Any ideas?

  1. Thank you, Guillermo, but I don't think Google Docs will host an Excel file.

I can convert the file to a Google Docs spreadsheet, but so far, Google spreadsheets don't seem to allow for macros.

Also, it is bit of a nuisance to print from Google Docs.

  2. How much bandwidth does this file require per month?

  3. Milan, it's a 92kb file. The page that links to it gets about 20 hits a day, so the max download would be about 2MB per day.

  4. You could use Google Sites to host your website, and you should be able to upload xls files to it.

  5. I wouldn't mind hosting a file that requires such a small amount of bandwidth for you.

  6. Milan, that is a kind offer. However, it appears that RealGrouchy's suggestion of Google Sites has done the trick.

If you don't have a Google account, please give a nickname and feel free to give the link to your blog or website. You can use the "a href" and "/a" HTML tags if you know how.
