Belgium: Chicken on the Spit
Does anyone know Flemish? I can't find an online Flemish-English translator. I think these cheery chickens are saying “ook, you're going to eat me”.
Kiekekot makes really good chicken on a spit for what is a reasonable price by local standards.
A warning: If you eat your half-chicken, all of your potato salad, then eat some of Manon's potato salad and some of Manon's half-chicken, you may find yourself waking up 8 hours later with indigestion that tastes just like the delicious blend of herbs and spices the chicken was stuffed with. Except the blend may not seem quite so delicious at 3AM. This may happen even if you ate your chicken with 4 or 5 slices of whole wheat bread.

The message on the window says "also for take away" (or takeout? i don't know the proper English word).
You can't find an online Flemish-English translator because Flemish is actually not the correct name for the language. The region is Flanders but the language is Dutch. The google translator can translate dutch: google translator
Yes, I just used my Mac translator widget and translated it from Dutch to English and the widget says, "also to take along".
You really should have taken Dries with you to Belgium...or me. I can read German and it's close enough
Flemish, my Dutch ex-inlaws explained to me, is an old form of Dutch...they would never have admitted it is a delightful mix of German, French and English...
Well you can take Dave out of Canada but Dave still overeats! This posting was so you. I know because I can really relate to that! Tell Manon its her fault for not eating all of her own dinner!
@xup: I'm already in Leuven, Belgium.. I live here :-)
Amazon: Overeats is such a judgmental word. Especially when the chickens are so happy about being eaten.
Everybody else; I zould sqy more but this Flemish keyboqrd is too tiring; qnd this cqfe doesnùt hqve the lqnguqge szitching button:
