Neighbourhood Hero

I may have the best nextdoor neighbour in the City of Ottawa:

• She is agreeable and fun to talk to.
• She has taken on the garden area on one side of my house that I'd neglected for years.
• Since I started school she's looked after two contractor-type things that involved both of our homes.
• She lets me borrow anything.

But here's the thing that puts her over the top in my view. In the garden (that I graciously allow let her do on my property) she puts out little baubles. Sometimes it's little coloured glass beads. Today it's these beautiful shells. Children invariably steal them and Pam just replaces them. "Let them steal them," she says. "I don't mind. I've always got more."
