Farewell Yellow Solairs

Manon drinking tea and reading in her formerly favourite chair

Here is my beautiful wife Manon in her beautiful yellow chair. The photo was taken two weeks ago. Manon  had her Solair mid-century modern outdoor chairs for a long time. Her family acquired them about 40 years ago. She got them for herself almost 20 years ago and they've been on our patio for 4 years.

Alas, she has them no longer. When we arrived home on Friday evening they were gone.

Manon is alternating between hoping the chairs were taken by someone who is properly appreciating their style and comfort and hoping that the chair thieves fall off and break their asses.

It's been suggested that we look for the chairs on Kijiji. So far, no sign. We could go out to Stittsville and get 4 white stacking chairs for $5. But we probably won't.

Well written, David. This news has made me a bit sad, too. I have warm feelings of nostalgia for those happy chairs. I have watched Manon and her (then) babies play on them, and loved that as Manon moved through the positive changes in her adult life, the chairs always had a place in her garden. Just like sweet Manon to wish them well--

We still have the webbed lounge chair that was bought for me when I had my first baby. (Restrung many times by Pappy) A real relic (the chair, not the child). Perhaps Manon could use it.

Maybe you should make a "Stolen" poster. Include exactly what you wrote here and see if you can guilt the culprit into returning the chairs.

Reading this sweet post from my wonderful husband, the lovely comment from Jenny, the kind offer from my belle maman, and the excellent idea from Heather makes me smile and warms my heart... it makes it almost worth having had the chairs stolen.

I'm all for hoping that the chair thieves fall off and break their asses :) Hope you find them soon!

I hope those rat bastards bring your chairs back. I love the idea of a Wanted poster.
